பொங்கல் நா என்ன?

                              ஒரு கவர் ஸ்டோரி. 

பொங்கல் என்றல் உடனே நம் நினைவிற்கு வருவது..... வயிறு முட்ட தீனி தின்பது, விசேஷ சாப்பாட்டை ரவுண்டு கட்டுவது, கல் போன்ற கரும்புடன் சண்டை போடுவது, குச்சி மிட்டாயயுடன் குஸ்தி போடுவது, ஊர் திருவிழா, மாடுகளுக்கு பெயிண்ட் அடித்து mental  ஆக்குவது, போகி என்ற பெயரில் நல்ல துணிகளை நாசமாக்குவது போன்ற நற்செயல்கள் தான்.

இதே நாளில் நண்பர்கள் ஒன்று சேர்ந்தால்.....  பெண்களிடம் சிலுமிஷம் செய்து செருப்படி வாங்குவது, மக்கள் கூடி இருக்கும் பகுதிக்கு சென்று scene போடுவது, நன்றாக ஓடி கொண்டிருக்கும் சினிமா ஆரங்கிற்கு சென்று சேட்டை செய்வது,  வாகனத்தில் சுற்றி வம்பு சண்டை இழுப்பது, கடைசியாக ஆளுகொரு quarter அடித்துவிட்டு மட்டை ஆகி விடுவது போன்ற புண்ணிய செயல்களில் ஈடுபடுவர்..

ஆனால் இதை எல்லாம் தாண்டி ஒரு நல்ல விஷயம் இருக்கிறது... அது என்ன என்று அறிந்துகொள்ள, எனக்குள் இருக்கும் bulb ஐ கொஞ்சம் பிரகாசமாக எரிய விட்டேன்... அதில் கிடைத்த விடை... பின்வருமாறு..

பொங்கல் பண்டிகையின் விசேஷங்கள்:

1 . Pongal is the only Hindu festival which follows solar calendar.
2. It was originally celebrated by farming community, as days passed now it is celebrated by all of us.
3. It is the same as "Thanks giving Day" for farmers because of their Hard Work in cultivation.
4. Four days of பொங்கல்

     i. போகி பொங்கல் (Indran Pongal)

This is celebrated in honor to the lord Indran (God of Clouds and Rains)

     ii. தை பொங்கல் (Surya Pongal)

This celebration is dedicated to our Sun God. On this day the granaries are full, the sun shines brightly, trees are in full bloom, bird-songs resound in the air and hearts overflow with happiness that get translated into colorful and joyous celebrations.This is the First Day of the Tamil month "தை".

      iii. மாட்டு பொங்கல் (Cattle Day)

This celebration is full and fully dedicated to the Cattles. s a day when cattle are given a well deserved day of rest and are given pride of place. Important event on this day is "ஜல்லிக்கட்டு". .

      iv. காணும் பொங்கல் (Thiruvalluvar Day)

The fourth day of the three-day Pongal celebrations is called Kaanum Pongal. In few places this day is also known as Karinaal or Thiruvalluvar Day. It is dedicated to the sun god, Surya and has its roots in ancient Brahminical tradition. Since Pongal is a rural, agrarian based festival that celebrates the harvests, the sun is a vital part of the proceedings. This is because the Sun is the symbol of life on Earth. Without the Sun, crops cannot sprout and grow. Without the Sun, harvests will not be plentiful.
